Makanyane Volunteers
Who are Makanyane Volunteers?
Makanyane Volunteers gets its name from the Tswane word for the African Wild Dog, as the first project that the founder of the group was involved with was the introduction of Wild Dog into Pilanesberg National Park. The mission of the organization is to assist Northwest Parks and Tourism in the conservation of the plant and wildlife in the area. They do this by maintaining various park facilities, including hides, electrical fencing and the park boma, and ensuring that the Park is in the best condition.
How to help?
Makanyane Volunteers have a work party weekend once a month, where work is done on various facilities in the Park. These work parties are the way in which the Volunteers interact with the environment and utilize their skills in DIY work.
Anyone with a passion for the outdoors and an appreciation of nature is invited to join the Makanyane Volunteers on a working party. The cost per volunteer for the weekend in R100.00 per person.
Please contact Ed or Jacquie to obtain more information about joining this successful volunteer group.
